A young man copes with the passing of his partner. NOWNESS PICKS
Erosion is a film that explores concepts of love and loss. It was first inspired by its location setting, the Salton Sea, a once gleaming holiday resort that has since dried up far from its former glory. Things don’t stay the same, neither places nor relationships. Change is necessary and beautiful in its own way. Every ending is an opportunity for a new beginning.
Erosion was shot peak pandemic with a skeleton crew of 3 friends. In a time of uncertainty, it was a liberating experience to go into a project without too many plans or expectations. We were there to have fun and just experiment. No one looking over our shoulders, no bosses, no storyboards. It reinvigorated my love for being behind the camera, with the safety of failure being an option.
